TWO ladies will run a staggering 100km – 62 miles – for charity from London to Brighton.

Sherry Reid from Boscombe and Jane Reader from Parkstone will set off at 6am and hope to finish by 9pm.

“We are confident because we have been putting in the practice,” said Sherry, 41, a businesswoman and co-owner of Shop Surplus UK.

“It’s nerve wracking because it’s a step into the unknown – we will be going for 15 hours.”

Sherry and Jane, 47, are running partners and have been doing around 60 miles a week in training, according to the training plan.

Typical runs include a 23 mile run from Swanage to Poole. They will take their own food with them to eat as they run and there are water stops every 12 miles.

Sherry has completed three marathons before – London twice and Edinburgh once – but this will be by far her biggest challenge.

“I want to run at least 40 miles and then may do some walking – the one thing that I don’t want to do is stop.

“I am expecting my feet to be in an awful condition.”

Jane and Sherry set off on May 12 and Jane’s husband Steve will cycle the 100km.

They plan to raise £1,000 for the Alzheimers’ Society – Jane’s mother has been affected by the disease.

Fundraising events include a quiz night at Boscombe’s Reef Encounter on Monday April 2, from 7.30pm, hosted by Sherry’s husband Angus.

Tickets £10 including supper. Call Angus on 07886 233707 or visit cherishgifts@fastmail.co.uk.
