A REFURBISHED day centre for adults with physical and learning disabilities has been given a £1.4million makeover.
Poole’s re-modelled Sea View Centre was opened by the town’s mayor, Cllr Graham Wilson on Thursday.
Council leader Elaine Atkinson also attended.
Previously, the Croft Road centre was only able to cater for adults with learning difficulties.
But after extensive work – including ensuring the building is wheelchair-friendly – the centre will now accommodate adults with physical disabilities as well.
Cabinet portfolio holder for social care Cllr Peter Adams said: “This development demonstrates the council’s commitment to ensuring that people with disabilities have access to the very best services, as well as benefiting the wider community.”
The centre has a new entrance and reception area, as well as extra space for voluntary organisations. The event gave people the chance to try out activities like pottery, yoga and drama.
