PUPILS at a Colehill school have helped create a timeline of the last 2,000 years to stretch along their corridor.
Youngsters at St Michael’s Middle School came up with concepts and ideas for the 17 metre by two-metre timeline, which is divided into 12 panels.
Illustrator Amanda Waite, mum to pupils Marisa and Kharis, then incorporated these into a design on her computer. They were then printed onto vinyl.
Amanda, 43, said: “The pupils came up with a list of the content they wanted in the timeline, so that they could take ownership of it.
“My favourite is poppies growing out of the gun turret of a World War One tank. I thought it was really powerful.”
She hopes the timeline, which includes Olympic references and a London panorama, will inspire the children in all their subjects.
TV archaeologist Julian Richards, from Meet the Ancestors, unveiled the piece during the school’s Tudor day on Wednesday.
Headteacher Paul Nation said: “For everyone to see their ideas and sketches crafted into a superbly creative timeline has been an unforgettable experience.”
The Parents Association funded the project.
