A DISABLED campaigner from Lymington travelled to Westminster to join a mass lobby of Parliament and express her concerns about the future of social care.
Gillian Stancer, 72, an active campaigner for Leonard Cheshire Disability, regularly advises the charity on their work.
The campaigner, who has a neurological condition and uses a wheelchair, said: “I rely on care and support twice daily, for example early morning care, to help me get ready and dressed for the day.
“Until recently, I could count on a carer coming first thing in the morning, but in recent months as cuts have been made in my local area, I have had to wait until noon for the knock on the door.
“I have found it hard to carry on with my normal activities and maintain my independence.
“I am a very active campaigner for Leonard Cheshire Disability and frequently travel to London to advise them on their work.
“Losing the ability to do this would be a real set back for me.
“Something needs to be done to ensure social care is properly funded now and in the future as the population gets older and demand for support grows.”
The mass lobby of Parliament was organised by the Care & Support Alliance which represents over 60 charities and organisations across the social care and health sector.
