A WOMAN who stripped off and carried out sexual acts in front of horrified families watching children’s entertainment has been jailed for 10 months.
Michelle Meech was drunk when she interrupted a busy family fun session in Bournemouth’s Lower Gardens on August 24 last year, Bournemouth Crown Court was told.
The court heard how Bournemouth council staff desperately tried to screen the 32-year-old from the view of shocked locals and tourists, leaving one “scarred for life” and another “feeling physically sick.”
And one parent said: “I feel sick, repulsed and angry that she was exposing herself in front of my children and all the other children.”
Judge Peter Johnson heard that Meech, who has previous convictions for drunk and disorderly behaviour and exposing herself, had carried out similar acts at Horseshoe Common and Boscombe precinct just months before the August incident. She pleaded guilty to outraging public decency.
Defending herself, Meech, of no fixed address, said: “I really have to change my ways. I am not planning to get drunk ever again – it has put me off for life.”
Sentencing, Judge Johnson said he was passing a custodial sentence “in order that the people of Bournemouth can be protected from your drunken actions.”
He added: “You have been treated leniently by the courts in the past. If you do anything similar again I anticipate that the sentence will be measured in years rather than months. You cannot go on in the way that you have been behaving so far.”
