DOZENS of youngsters in Poole now have their own bikes thanks to generous businesses and residents.
PC Ian Schofield, a bike repair specialist, collected the donated bikes and helped youngsters in Hamworthy fix and clean up the cycles, which they can then keep.
PC Schofield, from the Safer Neighbour Team, said: “The kids love it. Some of them see us in a negative light and may have been in trouble in the past, but this definitely helps build bridges.
“Most of all it helps keep youngsters off the streets and gives them something to focus on.”
One 14-year-old said: “It is something myself and most of the other kids have never done before.”
