THE date of a top Christchurch music festival has changed for this year.

Stompin’ on the Quomps, a free jazz festival, which takes place every year at Christchurch Quay, will be held on July 21.

Due to the Olympics “Super Saturday”, organisers decided to move the date back from its usual timing of the first Saturday of August.

Chairman Adrian Dwyer said: “Last year’s event was the best ever and we know people make arrangements for the event in advance so we are keen to get the message out that the event will be earlier, on July 21, for 2012.”

The bands have yet to be confirmed and details will be posted on the Stompin’ website and a Facebook page.

The jazz festival has also been short-listed in the Contribution to Music Award as part of the Dorset Music Awards.

Organisers are asking fans to support their nomination by voting at http://www.dorset musicawards.co.uk/contributionToTheMusicScene.php. Go to stompin.org for more information.
