FILM students from the Arts University College at Bournemouth have shot a 10-minute film called The Boxer.
The production tells the story of a fighter with a detached retina who risks it all for one last championship bout.
The final winning showdown against the hard-hitting champion was shot in a boxing ring set up in the Purbeck Hall of Bournemouth’s BIC yesterday.
Scenes were also filmed at a Southampton gym, on Bournemouth beach, and The Winchester pub on Poole Hill.
Writer Producer Nick Dearman, 23, from Hong Kong, who now lives in Boscombe, was inspired by The Fighter starring Mark Wahlberg.
Director Max Lowenbein, 24, a New Yorker, now lives in Winton. The students filmed over six days and hope it will get them good grades – and possibly investment for a longer version.
The cast includes Samuel Oatley, who has been in numerous shows like Holby City and Irishman Damien Denny, who appeared with Daniel Day-Lewis in 1997 feature film The Boxer.
