RAILWAY steam enthusiasts can enjoy a series of new day trips from Poole, Bournemouth and the New Forest in 2012 – and help celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The charters will take hundreds of passengers on days out to Windsor, Oxford and London.
The programme, being organised by Bath Travel, follows a hugely successful series of outings to Bath last year, using classic locomotives and refurbished Pullman coaches.
The Windsor and London departures have been laid on especially as part of the jubilee celebrations.
Stephen Bath of Bath Travel said: “We launched our steam train day trips last year and they proved so popular we have doubled the programme for this year and added three new destinations.
“They are all fabulous days out and it is a lovely, nostalgic, way to travel.
“And of course, with the trips to Windsor and London, you can help celebrate the jubilee.”
The London departure takes place on the day of the London River Pageant, June 3, when up to a thousand boats will parade down the River Thames as part of the celebrations.
The 2012 programme also includes Bath, with Christmas markets in November and December.
All trains pick up from and return to Poole, Bournemouth, Brockenhurst and Southampton.
Departure schedule: London, June 3; Oxford, May 2, August 15, September 19; Windsor, June 6, August 22; Bath, May 16, June 20, September 5, November 28, December 5.
