A Bournemouth granddad got his final wish when he died while paddling in the sea on a family holiday in Cyprus, an inquest heard.
Glafkos Michaildis told his son Nicholas Michaels if he had to pass away he wanted to die in the Cyprus sea.
And his last wishes were a reality when the 85-year-old drowned in the sea at Mackensie Beach in Larnaca, Cyprus, on September 14 last year.
The coroner’s court heard how the pensioner, of Danesbury Avenue, Bournemouth, was not himself and was unwell in the months leading up to his holiday.
He had fallen over several times and family members noticed he started to become confused.
He arrived at the hotel in Cyprus on September 13.
The next morning the pensioner and his son had breakfast before heading to the beach together.
The weather was hot so Mr Michaels went back to the room to get some water for the pair.
But when he got back to the beach he found his father’s body floating in 18 inches of water.
