A BOURNEMOUTH School musician who has raised more than £20,000 for the Meningitis Trust is urgently appealing for sponsors for his next charity show.
Adam Tuffrey, 17, who survived a deadly strain of the disease as a child, has since performed and organised four musical variety shows in the past five years.
“I want to help raise awareness of the symptoms and raise money so the trust can do what it does best and to be able to help people who might be in the same situation as me,” he says.
But Adam, who was made a young ambassador for the trust last year, needs to raise at least another £6,000 so his next Music 4 Meningitis venture can go ahead on September 29 at the Bournemouth Pavilion.
His father Duncan explains. “We want to make the concert self-funding so that all the proceeds of the evening goes to the trust.
“This was possible in previous years as the Bournemouth Youth Opportunities Fund provided the money, but this has since become a victim of government cuts and no longer exists.”
