WIMBORNE’S next mayor has been named.
Town councillor John Burden, who has lived in the town all his life, will take over the mayoral role from Cllr Robin Cook on Tuesday, May 15.
Cllr Burden, who was elected to the council in June 2007 and made Mayor in 2010, is chairman of Leigh Park Residents’ Association, which he helped to found.
Cllr Burden has two children with his wife Ann and lists his hobbies as working his gun dogs, fly fishing and gardening.
He said: “Ann and I are very honoured and proud to represent our home town as its mayor and mayoress for a second time. “I will do my very best for the town council and the whole town.”
Cllr Andy Hampton will be his deputy.
