CHERRIES winger Donal McDermott has been charged with drink-driving.
The 22-year-old, of Poole, who signed for AFC Bournemouth for an undisclosed fee from Huddersfield earlier this year, was arrested on Saturday.
Irishman McDermott signed for the West Yorkshire club after being released by Premier League high fliers Manchester City in the summer.
A club spokesman said: “AFC Bournemouth can confirm that Donal McDermott was arrested and charged on suspicion of a drink-driving offence on Saturday, March 24.
“The club will be making no further comment at this time.”
A Dorset Police spokesman said: “A 22-year-old man from Poole has been charged with driving a motor vehicle whilst over the legal alcohol limit, contrary to section 5.1A of the Road Traffic Act.”
McDermott is due to appear before Bournemouth Magistrates next month.
