A ROAD resurfacing scheme in Christchurch had to be put on hold yesterday because the tar was too hot.
The Dorset County Council works on Mudeford Lane and Stanpit were suspended following the discovery that tar, sent from suppliers, was not the correct temperature.
A DCC spokesman confirmed that the resurfacing scheme had been temporarily suspended but stressed that the scheme was still set to end later this week.
He added: “When it was tested on site it was found that the tar was too hot – it’s nothing to do with the weather.
“Other batches arrived from our suppliers during the day but they were also too hot so work could not proceed.”
Roadworks will be resuming as normal today and the works, which started on March 19, are expected to be completed by tomorrow.
