OCCUPY protesters yesterday ended their 18-day long protest at Bournemouth University.
The group moved from their temporary home at the Talbot Campus entrance near the Boundary Roundabout shortly before bailiffs arrived at 2pm.
It followed a hearing at Poole County Court where a district judge granted Bournemouth University a full injunction to exclude the protesters from university land.
The judge also issued court costs against the protesters.
The protesters had been camped on land owned by the Talbot Village Trust since March 9.
Last week TVT successfully applied for a possession order and Bournemouth University was granted an interim injunction to prevent the movement of Occupy onto the university’s campus.
Occupy Bournemouth have moved around the town over the past few months to voice their opposition to the global economic system and distribution of wealth.
Speaking as they left the site, Gary Sherborne said he planned to appeal the fine for costs.
“I am going to make a complaint to the Law Society. Now we are going to select another target. We have a couple in mind.
“We have been networking with other Occupy movements around the country and we will be heading to St Paul’s in London on April 7 for a big gathering there.”
A Bournemouth Univer sity statement confirmed the protesters had left after the university secured a final injunction order.
“We are clearly pleased that the protest has ended peacefully and are grateful to all staff and students who may have been affected by the protest for their patience and understanding,” the statement added.
