TWO good Samaritans and a Poole MP saved the day when an elderly man was taken ill by the roadside.

Two men in their 20s came to the aid of Broadstone resident Ted Parsons, 82, when his legs gave way on a shopping trip.

Mr Parsons had been sitting on a wall along Lower Blandford Road for some time when the university students were passing by and stopped to help.

Then Poole councillor Mike Brooke and wife Annette Brooke MP, who fell and broke her hip last week, also lent a hand by lending the trio her wheelchair to get Mr Parsons home.

His wife Lesley Parsons, stuck inside following a hip replacement operation, had called the police worried about his whereabouts.

Mrs Parsons, 72, wants to thank everyone for their help.

“Everybody was so kind,” she said.

“These two young men were really super people.”

The men, who were studying at Bristol and Southampton universities, were on their way to Montacute school.
