SEEKING sponsors for Dorset’s roundabouts could generate around £120,000 in extra income, a council report claims.
A report going before Dorset County Council’s cabinet next Wednesday states this is a “conservative figure,” based on 40 suitable roundabouts at £3,000 each.
If this money is realised, £72,000 would go to Dorset Highways to offset the cost of maintaining the highway network.
The remaining 40 per cent of the money would go to the marketing company tasked with finding willing sponsors.
Cabinet members are being asked to kick-start the process by authorising officers to find a suitable marketing company who can conduct an audit of roundabouts across the county.
