A DORSET dairy has been fined £9,000 after an employee was injured when his arm was pulled into a slurry separator.
Andrew James Ray, 47, was cleaning equipment at the dairy owned by M Hooper and Sons Ltd at Winterborne Tomson on January 2, 2009, when the accident happened.
Weymouth magistrates heard how an unsafe system of work was used for cleaning the rollers of the slurry separator while the equipment was running. Mr Ray’s left hand and part of his arm was crushed.
M Hooper & Sons Ltd admitted breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act and was ordered to pay £1,448 costs.
