WITH younger divas such as Lady Gaga snapping at her heels, Madonna has to seriously up her game if she is to continue her reign as the biggest selling female artist with the most No 1 albums in the UK.
For her 12th album MDNA, which comes four years after 2008’s Hard Candy, she has reunited with Ray Of Light producer William Orbit as well as dance music-maker Marco ‘Benny’ Benassi.
Girl Gone Wild, with its hypnotic basslines, is an ideal opener, swiftly followed by Gang Bang, which shows a more aggressive side to the singer as she swears and makes mock gunshot sounds.
Nicki Minaj and MIA join her on Give Me All Your Luvin’, with Nicki returning for I Don’t Give A - rumoured to be a dig towards ex-husband Guy Ritchie - and MIA for B-Day Song.
She may be knocking on a bit at 53, but with MDNA, Madonna proves she’s not ready to give up her crown just yet.
