What makes you proud to be British?
The Royal family, our famous cups of tea, fish and chips?
Or what about our ability to queue, to rally together in the face of adversity and our tremendous sense of humour.
All admirable qualities but apart from queueing, the last two have been in short supply over the last few days.
The panic at the petrol pumps – when there’s not even a strike – has left many people feeling bewildered and angry.
For a number of motorists who need to fill up have been left to drive their vehicle from forecourt to forecourt in a desperate search for fuel.
While others who have nearly a full tank are topping up and getting out the jerry cans for yet more petrol.
Without sounding too much like Michael Winner, isn’t it time we all ‘calmed down’ and if we do encounter lengthy queues at the petrol station, face it with a grin rather than a grimace.
