RE-LAYING the road surfacing along Poole’s Twin Sails Bridge has gone according to plan, say borough officials.
Workers were yesterday painting road markings and laying studding onto the £21.6million bridge, after the road surfacing was successfully re-laid on Wednesday night.
It is on course to open to traffic early next month, a spokesman for Borough of Poole said.
An exact date for a full opening will be released once the council has tested the repaired bridge, formally taken it over from contractor Hochtief (UK) Construction Limited and allowed operators a couple of days to ‘bed in’ to the lifting schedule.
Jim Bright, Strategic Director for Borough of Poole, said: “Work to resurface the lifting leaves of the Twin Sails Bridge was successfully completed on Wednesday evening.
“The contractor re-laid the road markings and studding during the day on Thursday and if this work is successful we expect the bridge to open to traffic in early April.”
