BUS passengers are set to reap the benefits of a £3.4million investment in improving bus travel across South East Dorset.
The government funding will be used to improve real time information at the busiest stops, upgrade key bus stops along major routes, tackle localised congestion and install audible announcement devices on over 250 buses.
The funding is the result of a successful joint application from Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset councils, supported by Yellow Buses and Wilts and Dorset.
Bournemouth West MP Conor Burns said yesterday: “This money not only highlights the government’s commitment to finding resources for frontline services even in a time of austerity, but will be welcomed by the thousands of residents and visitors who rely on bus services in the town.”
