MANY jobs at the struggling retailer Game Group have been saved after the business was sold to a turnaround investment firm.
The company, which owns the Game and Gamestation chains, went into administration a week ago.
Fifteen jobs were lost immediately in Bournemouth as the administrator closed more than half its branches.
The Game Group had four branches of Game in the Bournemouth and Poole area and two of Gamestation, each employing up to 10 people.
OpCapita has now bought 333 shops after paying what was reported to be a nominal amount, possibly £1, for the assets. The deal secures 3,200 jobs.
Henry Jackson, managing partner of OpCapita said: “We believe there is a place on the high street for a video gaming specialist and Game is the leading brand in a £2.8bn market.
“We have assembled a strong team of experienced industry operators to implement the programme of operational change that is needed.”
