WHO were the crewmen from the Bournemouth area who died in the disaster?
It is believed that there may have been three.
One, AE Pearce, who had previously been a member of the commercial staff of the Bournemouth Echo, was a steward on the Titanic.
He had lived at 76a Holdenhurst Road, and was the son of the former chief officer of the local coastguard attachment.
A letter to the Echo from the British Titanic Society in 1987 suggested there might have been two more and asked for information from readers.
The letter suggested the crewmen who died may have included A Lauder, of Kelson, Fenton Road, West Southbourne who was an assistant confectioner.
And C Light, a platewasher of Thorney Hill, Christchurch.
Does anyone have any information about them?
