IT has indeed been a bleak couple of weeks on the roads.
The latest casualty is 45-year-old Nick Barry who died after the incident on Ashley Road, Parkstone, on Sunday evening.
Only last week we reported on the deaths of motorcyclists David Bartholomew and renowned spinal surgeon Nick Boeree in separate accidents.
All three men have significantly touched the lives of other people in their own way.
The story behind Nick Barry, described as an inspirational father and grandfather, is especially poignant.
He was a sponsor for Narcotics Anonymous and judging by the messages left with flowers at the scene and on Facebook, worked tirelessly to help others and save lives.
As another tribute says - and sums it up in words that surely cannot be bettered: “You have witnessed the death of someone who counted.”
