AN open day was held at Fisherman’s Walk cliff lift on Saturday to celebrate the installation of new cabs in preparation for the summer season.
To mark the memorable milestone, free travel was on offer along with a display featuring the colourful history of the popular Southbourne lift which dates back to 1935 and transports holidaymakers as well as residents from the cliff-top to the promenade below.
The winner of a free prize draw received a lift season pass and local eateries offered their customers discount.
Cllr John Wilson, who lives near the lift, said: “We are delighted with the new cabs; the cliff office has also been spruced up just in time for the holiday season.
“The lift is part of Bournemouth’s history and a very popular and well-used attraction.”
