THE Christchurch parents of a girl who died from a rare blood disorder have continued their quest to help others by launching a late summer fundraiser.
Paul and Jo Dunn, who live in Burton, near Christchurch set-up the charity Zoe’s Wish in memory of their beloved daughter, who died in 2001 from TTP (thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura).
The condition affects the blood and forms small clots within the circulation, resulting in a low platelet count.
Since Zoe’s death, the couple have dedicated themselves to providing support to patients in a similar condition.
Their latest donation of two personal DVD players was to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford where Zoe received her treatment and where a treatment area has been named after her.
Paul and Jo also launched a big event to take place this summer at Adventure Wonderland.
Paul said: “It was Zoe’s wish to help other people in similar circumstances.
“We are working with the team at the clinic to see how we can help in the future and will this year make further donations of equipment including a medical monitor and a nebuliser.
“As part of our fundraising campaign this year we are launching a summer prize draw in August at a major charity event being hosted for Zoe’s Wish by Adventure Wonderland in Dorset.”
The charity event will take place on August 23 and the main prizes drawn by the Mayor of Christchurch, Cllr Sue Spittle.
