A BOURNEMOUTH pub was filled with pictures of wrens for a charity exhibition in recognition of an inspirational Christchurch teen.
Art teachers, Pippa Burnard and Gary Mant, from Christchurch, organised the special art event at The Winchester to raise vital funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, after being inspired by Jenny “Wren” Palmer, 13, who suffers from the disease.
Jenny has a sketchbook full of her drawings of wrens and so Pippa and Gary found it easy to pick a theme for the charity exhibition, which took place on March 29 and 30.
Pippa said: “The whole event went really well and over the two days, we ended up having about 200 people come in to have a look at all the pictures and we have raised £1,820 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, which we are really pleased about.
“Jenny actually sang two songs at the event, which was amazing and no one expected it but she did really well, and we also had two bands play live.
“We auctioned off all the artwork which had been created by around 60 different artists and some of it was bought for up to £75.
“Gary and I are now thinking about what event we can do next and we are planning to organise various charity events as a sideline to our day jobs because this one went so well and it’s for such a good cause.
“Jenny also helped me do some of the organising because I’m one of her teachers, so she would come in on lunch breaks and help to sort things out, which she did brilliantly.”
