WIMBORNE will be well and truly in the party mood with a double celebration for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Square re-opening, it has been announced.
Businesses have put together a busy programme of flower festivals, entertainment and food and drink from June 1-5.
Town crier Chris Brown will lead the official opening of the Square on Saturday, June 2, following its five-month revamp, and the Rev Vanessa Herrick will bless the space. There will be street theatre, circus skills workshops, crafts, entertainment from community groups and a balloon launch, plus a fire-eating display.
The Minster will host a five-day flower festival and musical entertainment and the Priest's House Museum and Gardens, Wimborne Model Town and Walford Mill Crafts are all planning special events.
Highlights include the Big Jubilee Lunch on the Minster Green on Sunday, June 3, and a family day on Tuesday, June 5.
Groups, schools and choirs are wanted to perform on Saturday, June 2, and Tuesday, June 5. Email enquiries@wimborneminster.net for details.
