A COMEDIAN was stunned when his act at a football club was accidentally broadcast to a neighbouring housing estate.
Poole’s Scott Charlton, right, was hosting an event with former soccer star Ray Wilkins at Cirencester Town FC in Gloucestershire.
Before standing to launch into his routine in front of several hundred guests the comic had asked for the microphone to be turned up.
He carried on, unaware that everything was being broadcast over the stadium’s public address system and was heard by neighbours.
Scott, 48, went outside the after he had finished and was surprised to see that police had arrived.
Scott said: “There is a brand new housing estate next door and they could hear it but nobody inside knew.
“It was a cracking night and now I’m thinking of going around the housing estate asking residents to pay for their free entertainment.
“It was quite a night – an audience of 200 and 5,000 complaints.”
A club spokesman said he had heard about the incident but on the night they had gone outside and hadn’t heard anything.
He said: “We know where all the buttons are and know which ones are for outside.”
