• Gareth Pinhorne who was visiting with his family from Portsmouth said: “One of our neighbours said they heard a scream last night but we didn’t think anything of it until this morning.
“Everyone is worried.
“People have already started packing up.”
• Frances Beachamp, 45, from Farnborough said: “My husband, Ian, heard someone beeping their horn over and over again.
“I thought it was yobs and heard cars up and down.
“Something like this really unsettles you. We come here two or three times a year.”
• Philippa Jones, 35, from Waterlooville, Hampshire said: “We left at 9am and hen we turned up they wouldn’t let us in. We thought they were kidding.
“Our friends are staying here but we can’t get in to be with him.
“It’s a horrible thing to happen.”
