FAMILY and friends helped Elsie Jeans celebrate her centenary with a party at her Stapehill care home.
Staff at the Highgrove Residential Care Home near Wimborne, organised the party which got off to a swinging start with a trio of singers and a medley of tunes from the 1940s onwards.
The 100-year-old was delighted to receive a birthday card from the Queen and a message from work and pensions secretary Iain Duncan Smith, along with many cards, flowers and presents.
Her four sons Robert, Ray, Richard and Allan helped her celebrate but sadly a fifth son Dave, a regular winner of the Bike of the Night on Poole Quay, died a few years ago.
She has seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She came from a large family and one surviving younger sister attended the party along with many other family members.
