HUNDREDS of girls and women have been showing off their skills this weekend at the International Baton Twirling Championships.
The annual competition organised by the International Baton Twirling Association was held at the Littledown centre in Bournemouth over the Easter bank holiday weekend and featured 160 participants from all over the UK and Ireland.
The corps competed in a number of sections over the four-day championship including individual events, dance, pom-poms and marching and manoeuvring.
Prizes are also awarded for the Top Team, Top Twirler, Most Progressive Team and the highly contested High Points award.
Contest director Joyce Loveys said: “The weekend has run really smoothly. All the girls have worked really hard and it is so nice to see the girls crowned with their awards.
“They are so proud of what they have achieved.”
This year newly formed Poole team Step Out Twirlers entered the competition. They train in Jolliffe Road in Poole. To find out more about Step Out Twirlers call corp director Fleur Loveys on 07580 985173.
