IT can’t be easy being a traffic warden who do a crucial job. And we don’t know what instructions they were given by higher-ups on any given day.

But you do sometimes wonder if a turn was missed when common sense was handed out.

AFC Bournemouth, with few exceptions, play on Saturdays or in the evenings. That means that supporters can park in places like nearby Littledown Drive knowing Monday to Friday daytime restrictions don’t apply.

But once in a blue moon they play on a Bank Holiday – Monday being a case in point. And instead of doing the obvious thing and turning a blind eye to the unusual circumstances, a warden dished out tickets to drivers who probably hadn’t even realised they were breaking a law that permitted parking after kick-off time but not between 2pm and 3pm.

Other than making money for the authority was there really any point?

Sometimes traffic wardens can give themselves a bad name.
