WET weather proved perfect for a day of Olympic watersports at Hengistbury Head on Monday.
Hengistbury Head Outdoor Education Centre was inundated with people wanting to try out different activities on the water for just £1 on Bank Holiday Monday.
Instructors said all sessions were pretty much full, with the chance for visitors to try out sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, rowing and canoeing.
There were also environmental sessions including pond dipping and mini beast hunting.
Rob Howlett from the outdoor centre said: “Despite the weather it was a fantastic day with more than 100 people accessing the water to try out Olympic sports.
“I think people will definitely return, with many already booking up sessions. It was great fun.”
Molly Hawking, administrator at the centre added: “It’s all gone really well with a great turnout.
“There’s been a bit of breeze and a high tide which is good for these activities.
“I think people have seen the rain and thought ‘we’re going to get wet anyway’ and just come down for some fun.”
“A lot of the kids have fallen in and everyone has had a really good time.”
Another event will take place on Monday May 7, with all sessions just £1.
