AN inquest into the death of a six-year-old girl at a New Forest campsite has today been opened and adjourned.
Isabelle Harris died in the early hours of Good Friday at Southampton General Hospital after suffering cardiac arrest in the ambulance.
Deputy Coroner Gordon Denson said just after midnight Isabelle was found “unresponsive” in the tent she was staying in with her parents Lee and Tracey Harris at Holmsley Campsite, Bransgore.
Her parents, from Gosport, and paramedics tried to resuscitate her at the scene, the official opening of her inquest was told.
Concerns were expressed by a paediatric consultant at the hospital and a post mortem was requested at Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester.
Pathologist Basil Purdue and Dr Darren Fowler later found there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death. But they were unable to give a cause of death.
The coroner revealed he is awaiting further reports before the exact cause of death can be determined.
The inquest was adjourned to be heard at a later date in Bournemouth.
