BOURNEMOUTH graduate Christian Schneider is cycling 900 miles in five days from John O'Groats to Land’s End to raise funds for local children’s hospice Julia’s House.
It’s the latest in a series of fundraising events including cycling 4,000 miles from New York to San Francisco in 54 days in 2010, climbing Europe's highest mountain, running the London Marathon and completing the UK’s Three Peak Challenge.
In 2011 he cycled from Bournemouth to Denmark via France, Belgium, Holland and Germany raising £1,000 for the Stroke Association after his father died of a brain haemorrhage.
“The underlying reason is that I do it all in the memory of my amazing friend Tom Buckley, who himself walked across England despite being given eight months to live – a true inspiration,” Christian explains.
“This year I am fundraising for a charity closer to home, Julia's House, as I wanted to give something back to a local charity while inspiring others to get out there and do their bit for charity.”
