A NEW toy exchange and donation scheme has opened in Ringwood selling baby and children’s toys and equipment in aid of local charities.
TEDS nearly new children’s shop is a one-stop shop for baby and children toys and equipment and aims to raise funds for Julia’s House as well as other causes such as Coping with Chaos, ASD New Forest, Jumping Beans toddler group and Salisbury Hospital Stars Appeal.
The social enterprise has been founded by mums Dana Elsworth and Liz Wells and is based at temporary shop accommodation the Old Auction House on Southampton Road.
Dana said TEDS will be able to use the building for at least the next six months before it is demolished.
“This allows us a window of opportunity to showcase our many wonderful children’s items from nursery accessories through to school uniform, garden toys and baby grows.
“We shall be applying for funding for a bright new building for our charity fundraising, but in the meantime we’re so relieved to finally be able to have all of or wonderful items under one roof.”
All the items for sale have been donated while other items have been exchanged for money-off vouchers that can be used to buy more things. As well as a shop, TEDS also has a children’s play room, a tea room and a sorting room where items are cleaned and checked.
Dana added: “We have had a steady stream of people coming into the shop. We think we are really unique and have around 3,000 items under one very large roof.”
