A GROUP of travellers set up camp at Kings Park yesterday afternoon.

Around half a dozen caravans took up residence at the car, coach and lorry park, close to AFC Bournemouth’s stadium.

Cllr Nick King, whose ward includes the park, said council teams had already visited the site to assess the situation to get the caravans moved on as soon as possible.

He said: “What’s a bit disappointing is they didn’t get to shut the park down in time.

“It depends how the travellers treat the park, they do sometimes create a mess.

“That area is used by people to walk through or exercise and people do find it a bit intimidating.

“Once it’s happened, the important thing is to make sure it doesn’t become a magnet for others.”
