A HOST of Christchurch organisations have received money for special Diamond Jubilee or Olympic events.
Christchurch council presented the grants of £250 to 20 groups recently.
The events range from an indoor Jubilee street party for people attending Christchurch Day Care Centre to an Olympics Carnival Celebration by Twynham Rangers.
As well as street parties, picnics, lunches and afternoon teas, celebrations across the borough include a water sports mini-Olympics organised by the Christchurch Community Part-nership and a Sporting Glory exhibition at Red House Museum.
The grant fund was announced as a way of the council celebrating the two great events happening in the country this year.
Grants have been awarded to Winkton Residents Association, Highcliffe St Mark’s Primary School, Christchurch Day Centre, Burecourt Residents’ Association, Mudeford Wood Community Trust and Twynham School.
FROGS will be putting on a community street party while Friends of the Red House Museum will be holding a ceremony to officially open Jubilee Gates.
Christchurch Infant School are organising a Jubilee storytelling project and Burton Parish Council will present Diamond Jubilee mugs to every pupil at Burton School.
Stanpit Village Hall is laying on a Diamond Jubilee open day and Flambard Avenue Social Club is holding Jubilee street party.
The Friends of Christchurch Junior School will be putting their cooking skills to the test by holding a Right Royal Bake Off and there will be a tribute in music, dance and drama to the Queen from Christchurch and District Arts Council.
