POOLE’S Match Race sailing stars are beginning the Olympic 100-day countdown where they hope to win Games gold – on home waters in Dorset.
Lucy Macgregor, Annie Lush and Kate Macgregor are training in Weymouth this week as they build towards representing Team GB this summer.
The triumvirate are aiming to adapt to the conditions of the Olympic venue in the months ahead – with the opening ceremony now just 100 days away.
Lucy Macgregor said: “In many ways, we’ve been in our own little bubble for the past couple of months competing abroad.
“Coming home, there has been much more media attention which has really brought it home that it is 100 days, not that we needed reminding.
“We’ve got a huge amount we still want to do but we’re happy with where we need to get to.
“We’re looking forward to being based in Weymouth and Portland full-time and getting the hours in.”
The 25-year-old added: “There is a general buzz around the place. The Olympics is just around the corner and it’s a really nice atmosphere.”
The team recently benefited from a fundraising dinner, hosted by the Royal Motor Yacht Club in Poole.
