A NEW hospitality and media project will open its doors to young people in Bournemouth and Poole next week.
Run by crime reduction charity Nacro, it aims to engage young people by running workshops, tasters, short courses and nationally recognised qualifications in catering, hospitality and media, to include music, photography and film. The project has been set up thanks to £30,000 funding from the Bournemouth and Poole 14-19 team, enabling Nacro to build a kitchen, café and media suite at its premises in Wallisdown Road, Poole.
A wide range of agencies for young people and schools will be invited to a series of open days in the coming weeks. It offers a safe, secure and informal setting and aimts to address recently highlighted skills gaps in the areas of hospitality and media in the area.
“Nacro is very excited about this project for many reasons but most of all because of the opportunities it will create for young people” said Nacro team manager Bronson Jones. “We have an open day on April 25 and we would like to promote the project as far and wide as possible.”
Anyone interested in attending the open day, which will be held between 11am and 4pm at The LionWorks, 543 Wallisdown Road, Poole, should call 01202 539966.
