Madcap actor Martin Clunes and a variety of four-legged friends descended on Julia’s House for a bit of mayhem.
Patron of the charity Martin, who plays irascible Doc Martin on TV, arrived at the Corfe Mullen children’s hospice with members of the Buckham Fair committee.
As well as his diminutive Shetland pony Jacob and his dogs Arthur Colin, James Henry (Jim) and Tina Audrey.
The children’s hospice service is the chosen charity for Buckham Fair this year, run by Martin and his wife Philippa at their Beaminster farm, and the team chose to hold a planning meeting at the hospice.
“Some of our children came out to meet the animals and play with Martin after their lunch – chaotic but great fun,” said an onlooker.
“Donny took a shine to Jacob the pony and Martin, giving both of them plenty of hugs and Dacey, a big fan of playing catch, enjoyed watching Jack Russell, Jim, playing with the ball pit balls.”
The antics with the animals, delighted the youngsters at the Springdale Road hospice.
A celebrity patron of Julia’s House, the former Men Behaving Badly star is an ardent supporter and describes it as a “wonderful place” and the “pride of Dorset”.
Buckham Fair committee member Rosemary Young commented on Facebook: “Brilliant day with you all.
“Such a lovely place for the children. Such happy people working there. So glad that Buckham Fair is going to be part of the success of Julia's House. Thanks for having us all.”
The country fair is on August 19 and includes dog and pony classes, food, crafts and a funfair.
