A BOURNEMOUTH mum is putting her best foot forward by running in the London Marathon to help her son.
Joanne Glass, from Littledown, is taking part in the event on Sunday for the first time to raise vital funds for the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Trust.
It’s a cause close to her heart as her six-year-old Joshua suffers from the condition.
Cystic Fibrosis is one of the UK’s most common, life-threatening, inherited diseases and claims two lives a week in the UK.
Joanne, 36, said: “This is my first marathon. I’ve run the Great South Run for CF Trust twice now so I really wanted to challenge myself and beat my fundraising target.
“I hope my fundraising will help the CF Trust to find a treatment that will make a difference for my son Joshua and others with CF.
“I wanted to do something that would help the charity that provides families affected by CF with support and advice.
“I’m feeling quite nervous about it now, but there will be some people there from the charity cheering me on, so that will help.”
Joanne hopes to raise up to £3,500 for the CF Trust, which will help to fund research into treating the disease as well as provide support, advice and appropriate clinical care to the 9,000 babies, children and adults with Cystic Fibrosis in the UK.
