WORK to transform Boscombe Crescent is well underway, says Bournemouth Council.
The council wants to transform the area, which has been well-known for drugs and vagrants, into an attractive public space.
Ongoing work includes thinning out the trees and shrubs, installing railings on three sides, replacing bins, repairing street lights, and planting new ornamental shrubs.
Cllr Jane Kelly, cabinet member for regeneration, also a Boscombe councillor, said: “These improvement works will help to bring this public space back in to use, reduce anti-social behaviour and create a green area that local people can be proud of and will use.”
The project has received funding of £55,000 from the council.
Later phases will include changing the pathways, improving connections to the high street, and opportunities for artwork to be included in the crescent.
