THE Winchester pub in the triangle area of Bournemouth has long since championed the local arts scene with frequent bands, plays and events.
This week is no different, starting with the psychedelic sounds of the Dollyrocker Club tonight. Saturday at The Winchester marks bimonthly dance event Perv Circus with guest DJ’s Evil Nine, while Sunday sees Minimal Animal night through to Monday.
Spanish singer Juan Zelada visits the venue on Tuesday evening, the multi-talented pianist, guitarist and songwriter has been a regular on Radio 2 and is tipped for big things this year. The Spanish-born, London-based singer recently made the unusual guarantee of offering fans their money back if they do not enjoy his live shows.
Juan, whose most recent single The Blues Remain was a Radio 2 record of the week said: “I think people are reluctant to spend money doing things they wouldn’t normally do.
“I love new people coming to my shows and this is a great way to encourage them — I know they will have a great time.
“This way they have nothing to lose, I’m guaranteeing it. Shops guarantee stuff you buy; people send back food in restaurants if it's not good – why shouldn’t they be able to get their money back if they feel my show wasn’t good enough?”
