A SECOND replica Saxon sword, replacing the one stolen last year, has been installed at Wareham’s North Causeway roundabout.
Crowds of well-wishers attended the unveiling ceremony and passing drivers honked in appreciation.
The previous sword, that formed the centrepiece of Wareham’s Britain in Bloom entry, was stolen on the eve of the competition’s judging.
This latest replica, which pays homage to the Saxon sword found nearby during building work 85 years ago, was installed on the boulders free of charge by Suttles Quarries.
It was fabricated by Ironwood Gates Ltd.
Wareham in Bloom committee chairman Cllr Eric Osmond said: “It was whilst we were in Fife, Scotland, that the dastardly deed was done.
“Thieves cut off the sword that had attracted so much attention, with comments being received from all over Great Britain and several parts of the world.
“It has never been found and no information has come forward as to its whereabouts.”
