FIREFIGHTERS remained on Poole Harbour’s Green Island yesterday following the devastating blaze that ripped through a millionaire’s dream home.
Around 50 firefighters were ferried to the island at the height of Friday’s drama, after the alarm was raised at 7.20am.
Investigators are now working to determine exactly what sparked the fire which gutted the six-bedroomed luxury eco-home belonging to millionaire Edward Iliffe.
Mr Iliffe bought the island six years ago and fought a lengthy battle with Purbeck planners before they gave the go-ahead for the home.
The building was set to be handed over in a couple of weeks.
Mr Iliffe’s wife Teleri said: “We’re so heartbroken.
“It was a life’s dream and now it’s just gone.
“It was a complete eco building, something we were doing for the children and their children.”
