A RARE 19th century Swiss music box discovered in Bournemouth has exchanged hands for nearly £2,000 at auction.
The box, pictured right, by Henri Capt of Geneva, was initially valued at just £100 by its owner.
It was bought from a Bournemouth dealer and sold at Wareham’s Cottees auction house.
The metal box attracted European interest and because it plays three tunes, it had to be played several times down the telephone during the sale.
An earlier sale of two large Oriental blue and white double gourd vases attracted worldwide bids.
They eventually sold for £2,600.
