DORSET amateur star Georgia Hall has become the youngest-ever winner of the Roehampton Gold Cup in south west London.
Hall, who turned 16 earlier this month, left a quality field in her wake with two rounds of level-par 72 to win by three shots from professionals Holly Aitchinson and Charlotte Ellis.
It was a further reminder to the Curtis Cup selectors who overlooked the England international for this year's battle with the Americans at Nairn in June.
Despite shining at the trials in March, Hall was only selected as a second reserve.
Since then she has reached the semi-finals of the French under-21 championship and shared top place in the Hampshire Rose.
“I still believe I had done enough to make the team, but all I can do is keep playing well and win as much as I can,” said Hall.
At Roehampton, Hall left her driver in the bag, opting to use her three wood for accuracy, as she negotiated the parkland course in difficult weather conditions.
She was rewarded by hitting every fairway which allowed her to attack the challenging pin positions and carve out eight birdies.
Hall's next two big tournaments are the Welsh and English strokeplay tournaments next month.
